o2 sensor question
hey guys, i heard a while back that you could use the ls1 vette o2 sensors on an f-body with long tubes, is this true? i currently have an extension set up and the o2s are beat, but i extended them to use the original harness incase i ever wanted to switch back, it would be nice if i could have one thats just plug and play.
if so is it the front o2s or the rears that i need to order? thanks!

a search could have found you the answer you were looking for since this has been covered hundreds of times, but yes the vette rear o2s will work just fine... bosch 13111's are what alot of people use... the front and rear o2s are basically the same, they are both narrow band 4 wire o2 sensors... the only real difference is the length of the wire

I personally would use Densos, they work in LT's and stock exhaust, doesn't matter. Bosch sensors don't work with my PCM, at all, engine won't run.
I've had Densos on my 427ci LT's and they're perfect so far, 7 months. Densos are also what GM now uses as their own 02 sensors now. So if you go to dealer for new sensors, you'll get Densos....but you'll pay $160 each for the same exact damn sensor.
$40.00, new at www.rockauto.com

my friend works at a parts store and can get me the bosch sensors for $55 a piece, with his discount. Thats weird why is it that the boschs dont work on your car? i was positive they had to if thats the application they were made for
i just was going with the vette sensors because i dont feel like getting back into rewiring, as i said i still have the harnesses there and alot of what i didnt like with doing the wiring was the fact that i still felt like they werent as protected

Bosch are just garbage to alot of our cars, they just don't work well. Some people, they work ok.
Try the Bosch if you want, there's no way that they are better than Densos though.

You just need to order the right ones depending on which length wires you need, thats all.
www.rockauto.com has both lengths.
$40.00, complete set up, sensors with wires. They are serious quality sensors. Better than AC Delcos IMO.

Those are Densos.
When I bought brand new AC Delcos from Bennett Auto and went to pick them up....I opened the AC Delco GM boxes and Densos were inside. Down to the words "Denso" on the plastic bags they were wrapped in and the install directions inside the bag with the "Denso" name on them. They use Denso now for their 02 sensors.
I asked the guy to go get two Denso sensors off the shelf...I opened them up they were 100% the same identical sensors. But half the price ****** thieves at GM. So of course I bought the Densos.
Now maybe they did redesign theres and were just using Densos in the past 7 months till they were finished designing them and getting them out to the dealers and stores......I'd have to see one first to confirm that.
If they did......they copied the BETTER Denso sensor design. Thats good, but they're noy better and they're still gonna be a complete rip-off.

They're all the same sensors, doesn't matter if its a vette or a F-Body.
Just do a search on www.rockauto.com for 1998 Firebird Trans Am.
You'll find: DENSO Part # 2344000
Get whichever lengths you need. The plugs are all the same. Or just get all long ones and zip-tie whatever wire is left over to the frame.
