Default Factory "air pump" on F-Body's............

The air pump that is attached to the stock exhaust manifolds.

Does anyone know if that air pump runs 100% of the time...or just at engine start?

Also, can it be wired to run continuously?

I have LT's...I have no use for the air pump...my air pump has been disconnected for 7+ years....

I just want to know if it can be wired to run all the time. For an entirely different use.

It comes on briefly at start up. If you're car isn't too loud, you should be able to hear the "whoosh" sound it makes.

I guess I should have been more clear:

I have LT's...I have no use for the air pump...my air pump has been disconnected for 7+ years....

I just want to know if it can be wired to run all the time. For an entirely different use.

i don't see why it couldn't be wired to run all the time. Put a power and a ground wire on it appropriately with a switch in there somewhere and turn the switch on and it would more than likely run untill you flip the switch agian....

Are you making an electric supercharger

That would be way too much boost for my engine

Whats the easiest way to get to the damn thing to get it out to wire it up or wire it up while its still in the car?

It would be nice if it blows enough air for what I need. And like I've said before, I really don't care at all about venting the crankcase to the atmosphere, but I have a new way to evacuate the crankcase gases and have them get burned up quite a bit, if not totally, before it goes to the atmosphere......still without everh having oil going into the intake anymore.
