Default anyone familiar with chevy 4.8

ok so i got a 2000 chevy 4.8 as a daily driver and well i know the fuel pump goes out alot on these trucks, so the truck was having problems starting, it will crank, and most of the time on the 2cd or 3rd time itll start, but then sometimes it starts perfectly, the times it has problems starting when it does turn on that 2cd or 3rd time itll idle really low, wants to turn off but then couple seconds later stas on and runs perfect/strong(no loss of power), and well i realized u can hear the fuel pump turn on when u turn the switch, so now im thinkin it may not be the pump...any idea what it can be?(truck does has 180,xxx miles, new gas filter so i know not that) any advice will be appreciated, thanx

Sounds like a bad fuel check valve. When they go bad fuel pressure will leak down after you kill the engine. You can check this with a fuel pressure gauge. If pressure leaks down after you turn it off thats your problem.
