Default new car, think i fried my clutch

I just got the car like 4 weeks ago, relearning how to drive (first fast manual). Lost a race to a conv. 350z of a friend 50-...roll. everybody said there's nothin wrong with the car, I just need a driver mod. ok enough of history on to the problem.

Yesterday I was gettin on 95 (speed limit 70, traffic 80-90) two trucks were comin so I downshifted to 2nd to get on before they got to me. car took off as it's supposed to, until it got to about 60 then the rpms flattend out and it wouldn't speed up shifted into 3rd, same thing. pulled over, smelled something burning, drives fine until i get upto about 2800 rpm, then the rpms stop going up and it sounds like something is slipping. First I thought clutch, but i thought the clutch slipping would make the rpms go faster not stop so now I'm confused and would like to be sure before i spend 1000 on a new clutch kit.

(speeds are approximate since it happened really fast)

If you aren't seeing an RPM increase, the clutch isn't slipping. Can you be a little more descriptive? What do you mean by it sounds like something is slipping?

i hit the gas but the car starts shaking and struggling to accelarate and the rpms VERY slowly rise, if at all. while i was coming home today as i was pulling into the driveway i hit the gas bout 25% in 1st and the rpms climbed allthe way to 4500 even tho i only blipped it, so i cut the car off and started it back up, blipped the throttle again with the car outta gear and it did the same thing, lifted the hood to check the throttle body cable and it seemed normal, now i'm really lost.

i was really hoping it didnt have anything to do with the motor since it has less than 40000 miles and it revs fine in neutral, except for wanting to keep going

This sounds more like it's missing, for whatever reason. Start by checking your fuel pressure.

is revs climbing for no reason in neutral a symptom of a spun bearing?
