Attempting to identify aftermarket muffler
The previous owner of my 1999 Trans Am installed an aftermarket muffler on the car. I am probably going to replace it but was wondering what it was. The only markings I could find on it are "Made in Mexico" and the "Patent 5936210". The rest of the exhaust system is stock, other than this piece that has been welded into it. Any ideas on what brand it could be?

Maremont http://www.patentsurf.net/5,936,210 might be a cherrybomb vortex http://www.cherrybomb.com/products/vortex
It appears from the above patent search though that it is a cherrybomb vortex. Is this muffler an improvement at all over what the car had stock? Is there any performance benefit to this muffler? I'm assuming replacing the exhaust with the SLP dual duals (I think thats what the firehawks came with) would be a signifigant upgrade over this.
