Has not happened to me. Are your holes in the overlay perfectly centered on the posts? (Not touching them.) Maybe your needles are pressed in too far and/or your overlay is not adhering tightly causing them to rub?

I had a similar issue in my 03 Silverado. GM uses little actuator motors behind the gauges to swing the needles. Over time, the plastic gears in these motors wear and the needles begin to stick, especially in the gauges that see the most motion. I don't know for sure, but would suspect that GM used the same parts in these cars as they did in the trucks. I got mine repaired under a TSB, but it took some doing. I took the truck to the dealer and got it diagnosed, but the dealer could not authorize a warranty repair. I had to go thru their national customer service center, they had to take my VIN and decided that my truck qualified. It was worth it, though, saved me about $450.

Hope this helps

Sounds like it has something to do with the overlay install. It sounds like the needles are rubbing since it happens at the same speed each time.
