I am about to install my 160degree t-stat I am just wondering how much coolant will I lose or will I lose it all?? or should I just drain the coolant first then just replace it with new??? thanks in advance for any help!

When I took mine out, I had to drain just over 1 gallon out. (So, you would loose a lot.) Once you drain the radiator, you'll still have a little bit behind the thermostat, which will spill out, but its enough to be soaked up with a towel placed under the t-stat.
I was in a place where I could not raise the car, so I just used a clean milk jug and a hose to siphon the fluid out the top of the radiator. When done, I just poured it back in.
