Don't use any type of stop leak. If your engine leaks fix the leak. All those additives are snake oils designed to do one thing, make your wallet lighter.

Absolutely correct...don't put that crap in under any circumstances unless:
1. you are selling the car, and don't care how bad you screw the next guy.
2. You have DEEP pockets and don't have the time at the moment to fix it right.

The problems caused by this stuff are many times worse than the ones it's supposed to cure.

These guys are right. Stop leak will damage your rad, heater, and more. No matter what it says on the can.

Edit; Sorry, I see it's oil stop leak, not coolant. Same answer anyway. Don't use it. It swells gaskets and damages them.

Just looking through old threads.
About ten years ago I saw an episode of myth busters where a guy had a small hole in the radiator.
well I followed what they did and it sealed my radiator long enough to finish my 600 Mile drive.

Laugh all you want, but it worked and it got me home.

I opened the radiator while the engine was hot, and cracked a couple eggs into it. After a min or two it stopped leaking
