Car has been sitting, should i change the oil?
before my car took a year break, i put in 4 quarts of mobil 1 and 1 quart of lucas oil stabilizer and put about 200 miles. the car has been sitting in garage over a year and i would start the motor every couple weeks. now should i change the oil before taking the car out now or the oil should be still good and nothing will go bad. thanks

Yes, change it.
You are doing far more damage by repeated cold starts. Cold starts wear the engine and the richer mixture contaminates the oil.
If the car is going to sit for a year, change the oil just before storage, and again immediately after. And don't start it during storage.

Whats wrong with mobil !...please explain...I have many 10 sec passes ans 1,000's of miles on my car reving to 7,000 everyday, so far so good...clean oil is the best oil.
I have never seen an engine fail from any type of oil. Only when oil is run low, or dirty air filter.
BTW I have rebuilt sereral engines.

Nothing at all wrong with Mobil 1. If you like it, use it. Just be aware that there are much better oils out there, but you won't find them on the shelf anywhere...and no, I'm not a salesman, and I'm not referring to Amsoil particularly, although they are one of the ok ones.

if you used the regular lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer with your mobil-1, you're screwed. you've done irreparable damage to your engine because you used the wrong stabilizer.
you need to use the lucas synthetic oil stabilizer with mobil-1, hahahahahaha
pull the dipstick and smell for gas or a noxious fumes smell. if it smells rancid-y then change the oil, otherwise start it up and run the car for at least a half hour to get the oil good and hot and it will burn off a lot of contaminants if there are any. without doing an oil analysis with a tbn test and knowing the fuel % in the oil there is no good way to know the condition of the oil. I doubt it needs to be changed but if it makes you feel better change it with the cheapest conventional oil off the shelf- pennzoil, havoline, etc. don't waste your money on mobil-1 or any "synthetic" next time when you change the oil before you put the car in storage.

Get rid of the lucas stuff. Just use oil only.
I only put on 500 to 1500 miles per year and use synthetic oils. I used to change the oil in the spring and again before winter. That is until I started to do UOA and I have switched to changing oil only in the spring. From my UOA's that is really not needed with the Amsoil but I change it anyway. I changed to Pennzoil plat. this year and drove a little more than my usuall so I'm looking forward to the UOA this spring to see how well it held up compared to Amsoil.
