Default Squeaky Belt

Whenever I cold start my car and its cool outside the belt squeaks for a bit until the motor heats up. Do I need to get a new belt?

Does it only happen on the first start up of the day, how many miles do you have on you current drive belt?

I had this when the weather turned cold. Squeaked like crazy when the engine was cold, but then went away after a few minutes.

It was the AC idler pulley, but it could be any of the pulleys.

mine is doing the same thing I was going to change my belt first and hope that works if not the I'm going to look at the idler pulley that seams to be where the noise is coming from

I had the exact same problem. Ended up being a pretty long thread with people having the same issue. I just replaced both belts and I haven't heard a squeak since. It is a really easy job, didn't take or move a single thing off the car to do it. Good luck!

Could be the automatic tensioner going bad. My AC tensioner squeaks when I turn my a/c on. but not usually on cold starts

definately a sign of either the belt, or a pulley going bad. i had a similar problem about a month ago, had to replace my idler pulley, belt and belt tensioner, and finally fixed the annoying squeak.

I replaced the belt and it helped, but didn't solve it completely. Change the AC tensioner and all is well.
