general Key fob question

general Key fob question

do i need a specific key fob from a dealer? or can i go to best buy and pick one up? its just gonna be for my spare key set. just didnt know which route to go

Just buy a used one off of Ebay. They go anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks and are in really good shape. Just make sure that you buy the correct one...

Yes - As long as the FCC ID on the back of the FOBs match, you are good. If not, it won't work. (even if it looks the same!) There is also a GM part number on the back of the originals.

FYI -- After you buy one, send me a PM if you need help getting it programmed with the car. I did this procedure over a year ago, but I can look it up in the mechanic's manual again.
