Default cruise control doesnt disengage

If I'm using my cruise control in 6th gear and I push the clutch in my car revs up to like 5k because the cruise control doesn't disengage immediately after I push in the clutch. Only seems to happen when driving up a big hill and the car has the gas pedal down most of the way. I've been disengaging the cruise control manually, then downshifting, but is this normal??

Do all the other disengagement methods (brake pedal, stalk switch) work? If so, the problem is probably with the switch attached to the clutch pedal. It could be bad or out of adjustment.

Take the lower IP off and you should see it up by the pedal pivot assembly. You can pop it out and rotate the plastic mounting to adjust. If that doesn't help, then its probably time for a new one. You should be able to take the switch out and test it easily with a continuity tester.

Check the switch at the top of the clutch pedal; there is an adjustment on it and sometimes they back off and the switch doesn't engage.
