Default oil pan gasket

So i need to replace my oil pan gasket. is dropping the k member the easiest way to do this and if so what exactly do i have to do to achieve this?

I'm assuming you have an LT1 by your screen name. You don't have to drop the k-member, but it makes it easier. You do have to jack up the engine as far as it will go though. You have to slowly work the gasket around the windage tray and the oil pickup. The dipstick and oil level sender have to come out.

From my understanding the blue tap screw looking things that comes with the fel pro gasket for the oil pan is suppose to hold up the pan while you loosen it up and take the gasket off right?

what all would I have to remove before I even start unbolting the pan?
