Default SS hood struts vs. z28 hood struts

Ok i have a z28 camaro and I just put an oem SS camaro hood on it. The Z28 hood is metal and heavy, the SS hood is fiberglass and light. I purchased some ss hood struts from advanced autoparts and put them on but it feels no different....
Is there a difference beetween the 2 hood struts?? anyone know the part#'s between the two?
I would just assume they should be different because of the weight differences. It doesnt feel right closing the fiberglass hood with the z28 hood struts. Feels way to forceful(fiberglass creeking noices, not good sounds).
any info???? thanks

they should be different just because of the weight difference. the gm part# 10293455 is off of my hood struts. my car is a ss with its original hood. call your local dealer or ask the kid from advance, they should have gotten some kind of parts training.

thanks for the part# ill check with gm on that. I went back to advanced and we looked at z28 hood struts and SS hood struts and they both popped up as the same part#??? I was told once that you can only get the SS hood struts through GM. Is this true? i guess ill be making some phone calls

i looked on a gm dealer website for these, they really did not have 2 different numbers listed just showed 2 listings for the struts. i would talk with a gm dealer or slp because i think they made the hood or had someone do it for them.
