She needs lots of maintenance, advice wanted Maintenance & Repairs
High mileage 02 ws6 in need of lots service.
I took the car to a dealership for brake pads and to get the right cat
checked out and ended up with $3500+ worth repairs less tax.
diagnostic $59.00
I was told the car was missfiring so
plug&wires $685.46
In need of complete fuel service carbon build up
GM complete fuel service $199.95
I found out right rear brake was always engage are sticking
all rotors worn down, to low to resurface.
front & rear brakes and rotors $914.18
Air filter $25.00
Fuel filter $65.88
pcv hoses $72.65
both catalytic converters are clogged
$1500.00+
Yeah a big A@# ripping. I'm in a rush so I will check back in later to night.
Suggestion Advice is welcome.
To cut cost down I would like to perform some of these task myself.
Should I stick with GM parts are go aftermarket?

All of these repairs seem completly do-able at home if you have the tools. Brakes/Calipers are easy. Plugs wires are easier. Hollow out the convertors bring the car into a independent shop for the injector cleaning.

Gettin rapped, where are you at? I don't have emissions so I would worry about cats, delete or buy perf. cats. and have a muffler shop weld in. 1.500.00 crazy!
On top of that, if you don't know how to do this stuff, your in the right place. Do a little research on here, talk to people, and when you complete this stuff you'll appreciate the car more, save money, and learn more.

Do all that stuff yourself its basic DIY things with basic tools for the most part. Cats just get rid of them stop killing yourself over them and put those 1500 towards future HP mods. If you just absolutely can't do anything take your car to a private mechanic shop and they should even charge you less. Stealership is a big no no for anything.

All this you can do yourself.
Heres more or less what you'll pay to have said items.
plugs&wires= $70.
carbon buildup clean up and injector cleaning= @$9/bottle of sea foam.
Rotors&pads= some sponsors on here have complete set for as low as $200, I believe.
Air filter=~$10
Fuel filter=~$10?
pcv hoses= unsure lol, but some people use basic hoses you can find at auto part stores.
Go to a muffler shop and have you cat converters removed or gutted for the mean time.
Forget the dealership.
All this you can do yourself.

I live in Missouri. So I need cats, though I know a lot guys running without them.
Thank goodness I found an old letter that informed me that the cats are covered for 10years or 120k miles which ever first. So that's taking care of except the two diagnostic fees.
Air filter, I will just buy another fram/purelator paper filter.
If I was to use SEAFOAM or CCCC and other fuel injector cleaning solutions, does this differ from what GM techs would do? After questioning the service rep and a mechanic it seems all they do is pour something into the car for $200.00.
Since I'm a 63B/91B in the military I've changed fuel filters on 5tons and LMTV's
never on civilian vehicle. Are there any "How to fix _________" links?
I'm looking at power stop brakes, I see a sponsor on this site is selling rotors & pads for all corners for a nice price. I also see the the spark plugs and wire sponsor sale mentioned above. Fixing the brakes and changing the spark plugs may be difficult for me. I need to find out what tools I need and check out private owned shops. Again, thanks for the comments more are welcome.

There are plenty of how to's out there right from changing your oil to swapping out your motor for a 6.0 I would say if your up for the task with basic tools look up on the net some how to's on google or even on here plenty of people have write ups. Ls1tech will save people lots of money from all the help all the members give each other. after all its free use it. Most of this stuff is basic common sense screwing and unscrewing plugs change wires one by one so you dnt mix up its simple stuff that a little searching will give you detailed how to's if you're ever stuck all you have to do is ask for help on here.

plugs and wires can be had for loess that 40 bucks if you use cheaper wires like duralast and on our cars hi po wires dont do any thing anyway.
a fuel filter is about 10 buck at the parts store.
all of this stuff is easy to do if not try to find a gm specialty shop that works on our type of cars.

Even if you had to buy 4 new rotors and brake pads, you would be around $250 if you just went aftermarket (about $50 a rotor and $25 a piece for pads). Maybe I missed it, but how many miles are on your car?

Cats are the only thing I cannot do myself, but I would find a good ls1 buddy and grab some drinks and have a field day. Save about 3k and learn quite a bit.

I've made a little progress
so far I used GM fuel injector cleaner($25), new Fram Air Filter($11), and got the CATS fixed($60 for diagnostic).
Brakes are next on the to do list.
