Default Can't jump car through the battery?

I recently installed an ipod interface on my 01 ws6, using the cd changer port. I've been driving the car all this week without any problems. Today, i left my ipod plugged into the interface while i went inside for about 10 minutes. I came out ready to leave, and the car wouldnt turn over once. I figured that leaving my ipod plugged in just drained the battery. So, I tried jumping it without any lucky. I then connected the cables to the positive lead by the fuse box and the negative lead close the battery. The car then fired right up. After a 10 minute car ride home, I tried to restart the car. It wouldn't turn over once. Any ideas why the car wouldnt jump through the leads on the battery and why the battery didn't recharge?

I forgot to mention that the positive lead was lose after I tried jumping the car. Is the battery just shot or is the wiring toast also.

Well I did try after i discovered it was loose. No luck. That's probably what killed the battery though...I hope. Batteries are cheap
