Thats from water getting in the housing and corroding the connector. Go to auto parts store and pick up a new connector, problem solved.

Advanced Part Number PT153 or I used the cheaper Part Number 85867 but it uses a different bulb.

As long as the housing is not cracked/damaged, the new seal that comes with the connector will fix the problem.

Yea, you need to check to make sure the housing isn't cracked. They take a beating from road debris and stones.

If you press on the outside of the lens with your finger, that should expose any cracks that might be there. Unless you are driving through swamps, a cracked lens would be the most likely source of large amounts of water.

So the birds use a different bulb and socket than the Camaros? I didn't know that. Camaros use a 3157 bulb and socket. part number for that socket is 85881.

3157 is just a bulb type. 3157A or 3157NA are the amber ones.

Yup, GM dropped the ball on this blinker housing design. They should have had the socket twist in on the top, with a drain hole for water on the bottom, the dummies did it backwards.

Go here and you see what you need to do to fix them both for under $20.00. Very easy to do.

Actually you can take the sockets apart and just swap over the new pins and plastics. No splicing required.

Nope, no good that way either. The Camaros have the sockets from the top and the heat from the bulbs cooks the sockets. They get all black and brittle so when changing bulbs they break.

Of course I went and ordered the sockets from advance 75 bucks later. I might see if i can return them and then buy the cheap ones. Do I have to get the housings at GM or will other places have them?

Then they should have made the sockets twist in horizontally so the water still won't accumulate in the socket and the heat would go up and not make the bulb and socket hot.

Either way, they designed a piece of **** blinker housing.

I found it much easier to just cut the old socket off and splice in the new one, but it does not really matter, its a tight space, do what you can.

If you look on the sides of the socket, there are a couple little clips. Push those in, the center plastic piece slides out. The contacts plug into a connector on the wires, then the wires can pull out. Slide the wires into the new housing, plug in the new contacts, and slide in the new center plastic. Don't get the wires mixed up.

It'll make more sense when you take it apart. If you want I can get pics of the process in a bit.
