Default Battery gauge acting weird and lights dimming and coming back

tonight after work i noticed when i started my car that the needle on the battery gauge was moving back and forth a lot and the dash and headlights were dimming slightly and then getting brighter repeatedly. the lights never got super dim but you could definitely see them fluctuating. It did this for about 5-8 minutes and then it seemed to level out and stop! no ses lights or anything and the needle never dipped into red zone.
I did use search but wasnt having any luck

any help would be great im suppose to drive to cali tomorrow!

make sure your belt is tight and not worn...but most likely its a failing voltage regulator.

Double check your battery posts and make sure the - & + battery cables are good and tight.

One or more of the diodes in the voltage regulator is failing. Time for a new alternator.

When mine did that, it was the battery terminals being too loose.
