Default Metal pieces in oil drain plug

Got around to changing my oil and found this on the tip. Should i be worried? anyone know what its from? The car is running fine for now.

It looks like the tip that is broken off when a heli-coil is used. As anyone done any thread repairs to the engine recently?

My first thought was a ground strap from a plug but you would have to have one hell of a problem for it to end up in the oil and surely it wouldnt be running right.

yeah that might be what it is. im gonna call the shop tomorrow and verify, i thought it might be plug related also

Looks like helicoil to me. I wouldn't be to concerned about it though (unless you find out its plug related, then how did it get in the pan). It looks like the magnet did its job.

So what ever happened? Did you find out where the metal chunks came from? I would love to know. I have an identical picture of my drain plug. Thanks
