Default Fbody Flip Down Visor Fix

Fellow fbody guys. Has anyone else had their visor break/wear out at the mounting point?

This is what the mounting point is supposed to look like:

It seems that the metal that was pressed in to hold the spring wore off. I tried putting the assembly back together (even by welding it) but could not get it to work properly. This is not the first time I've had this problem and the OEM wants $157 for a new one. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

No joke, you can make a new washer by drilling a hole in a $0.25 quarter.

I saw a guy do it on this site. Search for it, I think it was over a year ago.

I still have the washer, mounting bracket and spring, they just aren't in the picture.

BTW I tried to search for the thread you were talking about and couldn't find it, do you have a link?

You can buy posts on eBay for $10 to $15. You can pull the old one out of the visor and slide the replacement in. That's what I did the second time after the $120 replacement visor lasted only 2 years.

Thanks for the link, that was a clever idea by the OP. Luckily I still have the washer and won't have to drill through a quarter

You know where the visor material bends in order to not contact the rearview? Both of mine snapped from age at that joint. Right now I can't get pics b/c the car is sitting at my Dad's house 150 miles away with all of my tools - sad mechanic day...

If that's the problem you should be able to find one salvaged cheap on this site.
