Default 99' SS Starting issues

Hey all, looking for some advice on startup issues.

99' SS that fails to start on first try sometimes. The engine always turns over, but fails to start sometimes. Starter looks good, recently replaced plugs and wires. Cleaned out fuel filter and air filters as well.

The next thing I was going to look at was the fuel regulator, maybe the fuel system is not being primed properly?

Do you turn the key as soon as you put it in or do you wait a few secs with the key in the run position? I wait a few secs and it always starts. But if I try to start it, it takes a few turns. This may not be the answer your looking for but I tried. Good Luck

prim3, when it fails to start, is it usually 2-3 hrs after you've parked it? but if it's been sitting for 4 hrs or more, it suddenly starts up just fine?

It sounds to me like its a fuel issue. I would recommend getting a fuel pressure tester from auto zone they are free to rent. If you have low psi you could have a block in the line or the fuel pump might be going.

I wouldn't say it has a leak. Sounds to me like the fuel pump is about to give out. A good way to tell is checking the fuel pressure at the rail. 'Like Drew24 mentioned' I had the same issue, changed the pump and whalaa! Also before tearing into the pump try changing your fuel filter. Who knows, could be simply clogged, but i doubt it

Thanks all, I will plan to replace the fuel pump. While I'm at it, I should put a better pump in, any suggestions?
