Default Pulling out my hair.

Sometimes when im driving my car will start studdering very badly. So bad that i cant accelerate. Everytime this happens i lose my tach. As soon as my tach works again the car runs fine.

Now i threw codes for Cam Sensor, Knock Sensors, And crank position sensors.

I replaced the crank position sensor cleared the codes and it ran fine for about a week. The crank position sensor was off my old motor. After about a week and a half approx. 500 miles. It started doing the same thing again. This time it only gave me codes for the crank position sensor.

I replaced it with a brand new one from GM. Took the car for a drive and it started doing it again. No codes this time i wasnt able to drive it long enough.

Before all this happened i put 9000 miles on this engine without a problem. Just started out of nowhere.

Its a stock displacement engine running a Trex Camshaft and all supporting engine mods.

I even tried switching computers and it does it with either.

Im pulling my hair out over this. I just want to drive the dahm car again.

I beleive tach gets signal from PCM based on cam sensor signal. Based on your codes and symtoms, I would check out the cam sensor.

I would also go for the cam sensor. Especially when it threw a code for it initially.

I have a cam sensor if you need one. $50.00 shipped.

If I were you though....I'd hook up a Tech II, start the engine and grab hold of the wiring harness where it coms out of the PCM and move it all over and see if that trips the PCM on and off. You could have a loose PCM-to-engine block ground wire.

Same **** happened to me 4 months ago.. tach dies then car dies. cam position sensor. However i also had a mass airflow code cause the car was flying down the highway at 80 when the sensor came loose. No air into the engine when it died so it threw the maf code also.

sounds similar to a problem I'm having with the car dying at low speeds...acts just like turning the key off but starts right back up

Thats another thing i forgot when i restart the car i have to floor the gas like its carb'd for it to start.

Fuel pressure stays at 58 psi the entire time btw so its not fuel pump related.
