Default Installed a new ignition lock cylinder with no chip in it...can it start?

hi guys,

I recently had my keys (all) stolen out of my house. I had the ignition lock cylinder replaced before so it wasnt the original that came with this vin. rather than trying to find out what key i had, i decided to get a whole new cylinder. I went to 2 seperate auto stores for a replacement and BOTH pulled out switches where the key did not have a chip in it. and both said it should be fine.

I installed the switch today because i just wanted to start the car, and now it has a security light and wont do anything. i am 99 percent sure it is the Chip not being there. what can i do???
