Default Head lights come up when i turn on indicator lights

The head lights on my 1996 Trans Am pop up when i turn on my indicator lights. Shouldn't i be able to just turn on my indicator lights without the head lights moving? If so how do i fix it so when i turn on my indicator lights the head lights remain in down position? Thanks.

do your gears grind either when you turn the lights on or off? if so, that is the problem.

How would the gears in the headlights effect the switch? The way I read his issue is if he turns the switch to make the indicator lights come on but not the headlights it raises his headlights.

Mine has started doin this too but there is no gear grinding. I have discovered I can play with the switch and make it work properly so my guess would be the headlight switch itself is wearing out & could need replacing.

the headlight motors use current to check position and you can get odd popup lights when the gears are stripped. Yes, a switch could be the issue as well, but even when you lock the doors with the remote if the gears are grinding, the lights will popup and back down, very annoying.

So then if the lights are not popping up/down with remote lock/entry then its more than likely the switch itself & not the gears being stripped?

Tryin to trouble shoot mine as well & mine arent popping up/down when I use the remote, only when I try to turn on my indicator lights when its not quite light enough outside to want my headlights on but want my tail lights illuminated.

Most the time I can move the switch slowly a few times & get it to work right, sometimes I just dont wanna mess with it & go ahead & turn on my headlights.

Damn beat me to it. A stripped gear can cause all kinds of issues.
