Default my old 96 Z28 seemed faster then my 2000 Z28

Traded my 96 Z28 for a 2000 Z28

now after a few months my 96 was faster

both are stock..my 96 had way more low end punch

this 2000 model seems dead in low RPM's

top end seems the same

Low end torque does that to you. The answer will come when you run it at the track, with the assumption that you ran the old car and know what that time was.

Its very common, but believe me, its not slower. I had an LT1 guy tell me after he rode in my car he could dust me, then i taught him, back when i was pretty stock ofcourse. The LS motors have a much more linier power band than that of the Gen 1 And Gen2 small blocks, the power is a steady increase, Vs all the bark at the bottom like older motors, but dont worry, its just cause ur not used to it, its not slower, rather, a good bit faster, just at a progressive rate! Get urself a set of 4.10s just to get that seat of the pants feeling back!

I always outrun stock LT's at the track in my stock LS.

LT's do leave the hole strong but you can tell the LS continually pours on steam as you start to pull away.

Yep, you're easily feeling the LT1 downlow grunt. On my old LT1, I would jump LS1 cars hard, but they would immediately blow past me. When I first jumped to my 01 when it was stock, I did certainly miss the old LT1 downlow torque, but I no longer miss it

The LT1's make thier peak torque from 2000-3500rpm.

Perfect for around town.

LS1's don't make peak torque until 4000 rpm but have more TQ through out the range.

Your LS1 should dust the LT1 stock for stock,if it doesn't there is something wrong.
