Default '98 Firebird overheating

I dont know too much bout cars so this is whats happening. Got a brand new radiator put in and that kep it cool for a while. All of a sudden its running hot again. Went to get an Oil change and it was antifreeze in the oil.

What happens when i drive is it will start normal (about 180 degrees) then if im idle like sitting at a red light the temp will jump up to about 230 degrees (about the 3rd notch). Once i get moving again it will go back to 180 deg and fluctuate between 180 and 220 degrees. The mechanics i've talked to said its either a bad head gasket (i hope not) or a bad intake gasket.

Has anyone ever had this exact issue or possibly know what this kind of problem is? I hope its just a bad thermostat or water pump....anything other than head gasket

If you had antifreeze in your oil it is going to be a blown intake gasket, I believe.

Possibly an intake gasket, but most likely a head gasket, especially with the overheating.

The intakes are dry on these cars, meaning no fluids go through them.

The head gaskets are blown.

Yeah, I'll vote head gasket.

Whatever it is, don't drive it, antifreeze in the oil will quickly lead to burned bearings/piston rings and a complete engine job.

Good time to do some nice upgrades!

If that Firebird has a 3.8 V6 then its gonna be an easy job on replacing the intake manifold gasket. If that Firebird has the 5.7 V8 then you are
