Default Belt Squeal With A/C Off Only?

My guess is the tensioner pulley is on it's way out the door, any ideas as to why it would only squeal with the A/C off though? With the A/C on it is not there.

Its just the way the failing bearing is happening......under a little stress with it on might tighten it somehow and stop the squealing.

Take the A/C belt off, put the serpentine belt on....start it up and see if the squeak is gone. That way you're at least sure its one of the 3 pulleys for the a/c and not a serpentine belt pulley somewhere.

I bet its the lower one that is spring loaded.

Ditto, Mine was. Easy replacement if you can find the pulley (try O'Reilly's). You dont have to replace to the whole tensioner.
