Default Help with 85 IROC

I'm trying to get my buddy's IROC straightened out. It's been sitting for about a year. We found we had a bad alternator and replaced it. After a charge we got it to start but it still dies after running for a few minutes. It's my understanding that once the car is running whether or not the battery is bad shouldn't matter. I'm going to replace the battery in the morning anyway but just wanted to see if you guys had any ideas on whats going on. Also all the fuses are good.

i will assume you replaced the fuel with fresh stuff, check air filter and passageway's for obstruction's. try checking the fuel pressure, pull some plugs to see how they look.

Alright, we got it. The alternator I put on tested good on the initial crank up, but apparantly it took a **** just after that. The BRAND NEW alternator had the plastic piece that houses the brushes break within its first five minutes of life. The last thing I expeceted this issue to be was the NEW alternator. Thanks for the help.
