water in oil cap of 2000 ta
I just bought a 2000 ta convertible. Picked it up for $5500. I thought it was a good deal. After driving it for a few days maybe 40 miles total, I statered hearing lite tapping in the engine on hard acceleration. I changed the oil to Mobile 1 and the tapping is gone. The mechanic said he saw water in the oil cap and that some seal needs to be changed or my engene can go anytime. This car has only 80k, runs great. Also the oil pressure seems higher then my other TA. It never goes bellow 40psi.
What is my next step. Does the mechanic know what he is talking about. The gus I bought the car from prommised me the car had no mechanical issues. Did I get screwed.
thanks

Your next step is to ..... drive the car. Your oil cap water is likely simple condensation.
Beware any mechanic who looks at your car once and tells you work needs to be done or the "engine could go at any time."

Every winter we get a million threads with this complaint. It's condensation. If you keep the engine hot a long time( think 1-1.5 hour drive) It dries out. A catch can will fix it, rev extreme or saiko michu, I forget the spelling but you get the idea, all other brands are snake oil.
