pretty awesome info but I do have a tip:
you could have paralleled resistors to give you your value (in your case a 10k and 6k resistor in parallel would be 3750)
You can also use a potentiometer...putting a meter on it and turning until you get the right value. Hot glue it in that position and your done!
Again though, outstanding info!

"MODS"...... Sticky Worthy???
I've been looking around online and I've seen people do "simpler" versions of the 'Resister Pack'... I just wanted to document what I did so someone else can do it without having to scrounge for every lil piece of information online.
...It's the first time I ever soldered, used an Ohmmeter or even saw a resister. All 'n all, everything came out great!!

why dont you just buy ONE resistor with a matching value. not sure why people keep daisy chaining thses things. mine came out to 4.75. walked into radio shack and looked in the drawers and found the 4.75k resistor and bought it. set me back a whopping quarter. too much math in these videos. KISS

Great job. . . . But this is too easy and has been covered a million times.
Try doing a bypass on a old Lexus. . . . Then we'll see.
The VATS bypass is easy as it can be. . . A GM Passlock is even more difficult.

Good video, and the other videos for reference brought it all together, thank you for the effort! So ultimately, is it the key that gets wonky or a computer/module (?) in the car that eventually does not recognize the key that activates the vats? Said another way, what fails in the car to make the security light flash and prevent you from starting the car?

i am having the sec light issue (and the car wouldn't start last night but now does w/ sec light on) and measured my key and am getting 3.55. is this within range for the #10 pellet? i just ordered a plug n play bypass # 10 module from ebay for like $15 because i don't feel like buying a soldering iron and a bunch of resisters.
my other key reads 3.7 so i should be right on the number 10. i guess i'll try using that key since it's closer to the 3.74k and if the security light goes off great, if not i've got the correct bypass module on order.

OR if the resistor in your key is going out like mine was. Go to walmart or any place that makes keys and have one made for (i paid $121 and got 2 keys made). I had the same issue as described. Didnt ant to mess with any wiring had the keys made and wouldnt you know it. I dont have an issue anymore. PP thumbs up on the video though
