Default A/C maintenance?

Title says it all. I'm the third owner of this car, and bought it back in 2005 with 45,000 miles. I've never had a hiccup with the A/C on this car, but now it has 90,000-something miles on it. Should I do any type of maintenance on the A/C system? Or should I listen to the old saying, "If its not broke, don't fix it."

Well i'm in the same boat but not sure what to do. The biggest worry is how acidic has the system become and what kind of shape is the desiccant in? If you want you could gamble on it or replace the acuumulator-dryer and refill with fresh oil. But opening the system lets air in which is what causes an acid condition in the 1st place. Now a smart guy would replace everything above then purge the system with Nitrogen then vacuum it down and replace the coolant, Replacing the coolant has to done properly too so all the lines are purged of air completely. Air is the enemy of any AC system. When I had it available I purged the charge lines with Nitrogen too.

My 99ta had 135k and the system still worked fine.

i don't know much about A/C systems, but i think the only thing you could really do is get it flushed with a new orfice tube and fresh freon. because of lack of knowledge on how to work with A/C systems, i'd have a reputable shop do it, but i don't think i'm going to mess with it.

With A\C I'm with the "if it broke don't fix" crowd. I'm 40+ and everytime I had "maintinance" done on athe A\C it always failed later. The vehicles that I've owned that had working A\C that I never "maintained" worked until the vehicle died or I sold.

DON'T MESS WITH IF ITS BLOWING COLD.........you could cause more problems. Wait for it to fail, then fix it.

If you're looking to do preventative maintenance stuff, like I have been for the past year with my "almost" 13 year old car.......there's a **** ton of things you could be doing.

Ok cool thanks for the info everyone! Guess I'll focus on other stuff, like new door hinges.
