Default 93 trans am still having problems help!

I have a 93 trans am and I have been having intermittent problems with the fuel pump. It has died on me a couple of times and when I go to start it back up I cant hear the fuel pump kick on. I finally had it happen at my house so I can check fuel pressure and when I turn the key on the fuel pump pressurized to 45 psi and then when I crank the engine it slowly goes down to 0 psi. So I took off the intake boot sprayed starting fluid in it and the car starts and then magically the fuel pump works. Now it starts and the fuel pump works it hold 40 psi. I have already changed the pump relay and the fuel pump is less than a year old and its original equipment although I know that doesn't mean a whole lot. Any ideas of what else could control the power to the fuel pump besides the computer of course.
