engine over heating concern.
alright well ive just finished installing a new engine in my car.ive filled the radiator up with water only at the moment just for start up and idling purposes. i have installed a new thermostat in the vehicle and ive made sure both fans work on low and high speed. when touch the upper and lower radiator hoses they are not hot to the touch even when my guage is slight past 210.any thing i could double check to make sure im didnt double cross anything. Also would anybody know if the two heater hoses on the water pump being switched around cause this concern?

Take your radiator cap off when its coool enough to do so......top off the coolant (water is just fine). As the engine is heating up squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses rapidly like 20-30 times each. This will move the air bubble back and forth letting the coolant (water) thats in the heads and block and getting hotter to touch the t-stat to allow it to open and start flowing coolant/water. Then top it off when you see the level drop down. Then, the t-stat will close and the flow will stop.
I would stand there one more time and wait for the t-stat to open again and start to flow a second time...and top it off if needed.
Then you can put the cap back on and go for a drive.
