Check your exhaust manifold gaskets. I had the same problem and one gasket blew out. Check for carbon deposits around the exhaust manifolds.

Winning noise? It's probably from people cheering you. Seriously, try and get a mechanic's stethescope or a long ratchet/extension combination and try to put it on the motor closest to the pulleys as the car runs. If you need additional room you might do what I did and put the car up on stands and get underneath-do all this while you or a helper works the throttle. Maybe it's a pulley, maybe not, but this should help you determine that possibility...

take the belt off and spin the idler pulley, tensioner pulley, ps pump, alternator, and water pump. btw dont forget about the belt and pulleys for the ac compressor. if they dont spin freely that is more than likely you problem

My car just makes losing noises. No but I'd check the pulleys. My A/C compressor does that if I don't have the A/C on. From a distance it almost sounds Procharger-ish (I wish it was).

does it do it if ur cruisin in what ever gear with clutch out, and u just hit the gas a little it makes it then goes away when let off and stuff? press clutch in goes away even if u rev up? if so its probably rear end related, if it seems to to it strictly engine revs, check alternator, had a k5 that sounded super charged cause my alternator was bad, died on me about a week later, spiking at 18+ volts before dying lol XD

Check power steering pump for leaks and have your rear end/differential looked at.

This issue has been driving me nuts for quite some time now. Can't find a vacuum leak anywhere, was able to eliminate all pulleys. Guess I'll be diving into the possibility of an exhaust leak now. Pain in the butt.

i honestly think it could be some wear on gears in your tranny. does it do it just in first? does it go away in second? third? all other gears? if its in all gears it def could be rear end gear whine. where does the noise seem to be coming from?

I have this same prob and I know for sure that its coming from the tranny or shifter and its only when taking off in 1st and reverse, so wouldn't that be a throw out bearing.

Pilot bearings would squeal until you disengage the clutch. Throwout bearings would squeal when the clutch is disengaged.
