Default Hood Struts. WTF?!

So I bought my 2000 trans am back in October and it came with an aftermarket WS6 hood, although I'm not sure which. It also came with a pop stand to hold the hood up instead of hood struts. So I've decided to install hood struts.

My problem is, the OEM hood struts dont come with the mounting bracket I need to mount them to the underside of the hood. I've found some hood struts that have the mouting equipment I need however they are not quite the stock length.

My question is, what is the easiest way to go about installing hood struts. I need to be able to see where I need to mount the bracket on the underside of the hood while the hood is closed. Any ideas? tips?

Do a search in the Appearance section, this has been covered. Normally stock struts are too stiff for aftermarket hoods & can damage them.

Not sure how to go about mounting them but you probably only need one. It was too hard for me to close my aftermarket hood with both struts installed but works perfect with just one.
