Wiper motor bad or whats going on????

Wiper motor bad or whats going on???? I have a 2001 T/A WS6 that has decided to give me a wiper problem. The driver side wiper arm works great but the passenger side does not. It acts like its trying to go thru the movement but only at the most moves an inch then on the downward part it goes down and hits the little buffer kinda hard. It has me baffeled. So do I suck it up and buy a new motor or is there something that I can do or try to do to get it to work correctly?
