Default non LSx question.....about octane and a Dodge Hemi truck....

Simply.....down here in hot *** South Florida my stepfather has a Dodge Hemi pick-up truck. He drives it like an old lady, never tows with it or anything.

The manual says to use 89 octane......

What would happen if he started using 87 octane?

((its not a money issue, its a bitch to find 89 octane where he is every day, and all he really does is drive to and from work))

I actually didn't know what to tell him. I don't want him to detonate like crazy so I told him I'd ask all of you first.

Thanks.

if not moneys issue, I do run premium gas. Its not bad for your engine if you use above recomment, but its bad if use anything under recomment. like our car try run 87 u will having problem. btw those hemi should use recomment premium and should use at least 5w30 oil weight not 5w20.
