This started happening a few days ago. I went to start my car one morning before work and the starter would not turn. After work I tried it and it started up just fine. The next day it worked fine as well. Yesterday I tried starting it and the problem came back. I did notice a clicking sound coming from the engine bay. I replaced the starter relay yesterday and it starts but I tried starting it right before I changed it and it started fine. My problem now is that my car is unreliable. Any tips would be great, what else can I check?

Battery and alt seem fine
Security light does not stay on so no vats

If you have clicking, it could be the battery.

How old is it? Some parts stores can also test them for you now on special cranking testers.

I had the exact same problem that left me stranded at gas stations and stores at least once a week for a while....it was the battery connections vibrating loose. Even though I could only turn them 1/4 turn tighter the difference was night and day.

Ignition switch or the clicking sounds like the starter itself is baf

also check all your grounds straps.
