Default 2002 t/a overheating f1a 408

Ok, here is the rundown on my setup. I have a 8.5:1 iron blocked 408 motor that is fresh with ls3 heads and an f1a procharger setup. It has a th400 with a 3500 converter and 4.10 gears. The radiator is a griffin aluminum dual row that everyone uses and has two 12" pushers and 1 16" puller on it. The thermostat is new and is a 160. The fans are set to come on at 180 and off at 170. The car will idle and get up to around 200 sitting there with the fans on. If you drive the car around a little it will start climbing and continue till you shut it off. I drove it without the bumper and a clear path to the radiator. Could it be a bad waterpump? I know they leak, but didnt know they could come apart internally. Its not losing coolant and runs fine so I dont think its a head gasket because no oil in water or water in oil. Where should I start, there has to be something I am missing. Thanks for the help, Josh

ps There is no air in the system, I bled it with the front on ramps.

Are you sure that it is hot? Could it be just a temperature gauge issue?

With hp tuners it read 200, 210, 220, 230, etc. Its still possible the sensor is bad, what do you think?

230 is not all that hot under some circumstances. It could be a bad sensor or bad ground. Are there other signs - steam anywhere- how is the oil temperature?

But 240, 250 is, lol. No steam anywhere. Not sure on the oil temperature, but it never boils so kind of makes me think air in crossover. I will open the crossover and see if I can get some air out of it.

Good idea. A steam pocket will cause it to overheat. I thought you had already done that.

I didn't loosen the crossover, just put the front up on ramps and filled it. I will try taking the crossover loose and filling the system.
