car wonk crank when security light is steady on???? I already bypassed the vats earlier this year and now its having similar issues randomly when trying to start. The dash lights and everything works but the starter wont engage while the security light is on. The light sometimes comes on while driving and then goes out randomly when still driving. I read the codes and the only two were 1416 and 1626. Im sure its not the starter or the starter relay becuase whatever is causing it goes away when the security light goes out. What besides the VATS system can cause this?

I believe I found the answer, the 1626 code says it all. The VATS system was obviously not done well, just maybe god enough for a little while, like the wires may be making intermittent contact and causing a no start. will post back in a couple of days if anyone is intrested in the results.
