an't find a cat converter for my SUV so , thinking of swapping one ..
I am not able to find anything for my Car that is CA EPA Friendly ( CARB ) and ODB2 compliant ,for an after market catalytic converter. The closest I can get to something is $900 ( I think it said per Cat and there are 2 cats in that one ) + 4 weeks ordering time ,which really sucks.
I am , though , able to find a Magnsound Universal Catalytic converter, that is
OBD2, and CA emissions compliant and of affordable rate for some other vehicles but these have different engine specs like 2.6L,4.6L ,2.9L etc whereas mine's 3.0L - the V6 part is common .
Ideally these Cats, as I understand , are tailor made for each model / brand , with that info displayed on them - but then Ideally I should also expect an affordable Cat for a $2000 truck that is CA friendly but NO ONE cares to make them . Go to Autozone or Magnasound online etc - all their Cats are 49 State Friendly . Shipping to ALL states EXCEPT CA. I am PISSED .
SO my Q is if I get another one from Ford with pretty close Characteristics as above , would it work ? Will it clear SMOG inspection assuming , the inspector isn't going to bend underside and read my truck from beneath . ? any clue ...
