problem starting help

Default problem starting help

its 98 ss camaro six speed, I thought it was the starter, but had it tested, and put new starter and did the same thing. the car starts once twice, and three times, then I put the clucth in and nothing, lights gages work but ,does not crank, keep doing this more times then it will start, and starts fine for about five starts, then it all begins the same sequence. help

Sounds like it might be the sensor that determines clutch pedal position - not sure of the actual name for it. If that's going bad, it might not allow the car to start since it's not reading that the clutch pedal is depressed.

ok is the black on back of the pedal, or the white in front of pedal arm.

Honestly, no clue...I've never had to mess with it, so I wouldn't even know what it looks like.

Yep clutch switch will have to be working properly for an M6 car to crank.

If this stuff doesn't work, swap your starter relay with one of the fan relays. I just did this and it appears to have fixed the issue. If it continues to be ok, I'll be buying a new relay.

I am goning to by pass the clutch switch to see if that works, then the relay.

I have a 98 auto that is doing the same thing. Don't know if it would be the same problem or not since there is no clutch.

If you find the problem let me know, I had to take a break. I think the auto have a safety switch.

just got back from tune time performance in nj, and he said its the chip in the key, make sure you clean it with alcohol, and if you have to fix it its cheaper to by pass the system.
