Default Speedo not working right 2000 SS

Ok i have a 2000 SS Camaro and the speedo only seems to work when under heavy acceleration it will start working in third or fourth gear (between 50-80 mph) but it does not work for just regular driving....and the odometer barely moves....i would like some input from someone that mightve had the same experience with this.....Is it the cluster or could the guy who had the car before me not plugged up something right on the tranny (took out to rebuild)....btw its got stock 3:42 so thats not it....and im gonna have tranny out before long to put in new clutch so i can check it but is there a way to re-check it without having to pull tranny again in case i find a prob with it once i check everything and its still not working......I appreciate any help with this.....thank you

I might be wrong, but check the speed sensor. I don't remember what wheel it is (I want to say passenger front.).

yup....there were a total of nine wires i had to fix which went to skip shift, reverse lockout, speed sensor, and one of the O2 sensors but i fixed them so hopefully everything will work right now, not to mention he left bolts out of slave cylinder, crossmember, tranny and bellhousing, and several bolts on the inside
