Default weird thing happened with my car today.

I was driving home from work, and i was in stop and go traffic. I slowed down and was following pace with other vehicles, then as soon as the pack sped up, as did i. Only when i went to give it throttle, the car fell on its face. I pusehd the clutch it and threw on my hazard lights. i tried revving it up and it didnt seem to want to rev, so i turn the car off and coasted to a stop. I let the car sit for a few seconds, turned the key, and she fired right up and i drove it home 45 miles away without a problem. Any ideas what this might of been? I have had something similar happen to me awhile back, only i was sitting in my drive way. i started the car and it idled very low and didnt want to seem to rev over 600-700 rpm, so i shut it off, and restarted it and it ran fine, and never had a problem until today. now my security light is on and has been on, ive done the resistor mod, and it worked for awhile, then i think the resistor went bad. so basically about once a month i have the VATs issue. Sorry for being so long, trying to be as descriptive as possible

Thanks!

The VATS system is designed to prevent theft. So if it starts it's not really causing an issue beyond the light on for now.
Not easy to tell what's going on by discription, quite a few posibilties.
Fuel pressure, main relay the occasional igntion swtich & PCM are just a few.

Not gonna be easy to find if it that intermittant.

Sounds like you might just have an o2 sensor failing on you. If you can get a good scanner on the car you can watch them and see if they are switching correctly. I also wonder if you have an o2 "insufficient activity" code stored if you do get it scanned by Autozone. Although many times a failing o2 won't throw a code until it is really bad.

My bone stock 00' ws6 m6 would do this exact same thing every once in a blue moon.

Never figured it out but it never happened while I was driving. Only when I cranked it up.

I would just kill it then start again and no more funky idle.

My vette (1985 tpi) does that once in a while and it is due to a failing maf.

See I do think I have a bad MAF. My tuner said it was acting funny. Butni asked him about my o2's and he said those were fine. This was back In June. I'm replacing the MAF n e way so hopefully it doesn't do it again. But like someone mentioned, it's happens so spaced out, it'll b hard to catch.

Mine will throw it if I barely accelerate. It will still go WOT since it goes into a different table of the tune. Also check the connector to make sure no connection issues
