Default Knocking in motor?

So i found out last night i needed to replace the radiator in my 05 GTO, must have been a bit old and under too much pressure so, im ordering a new radiator and having it put on today, BUT, i pulled it into my shop todayand the techs and i heard a loud knocking ive never heard it before. he reved it to about 5k and it was very apparent. i read up on that piston slap deal, and im wondering if its that, or is there anything else i need to be worrying about. i just bought her about 4 days ago, help please?

Does it sound like it's comming from the top of the motor or bottom end? Does it go away after the motor gets warm up? How many miles? Six speed or automatic?

It sounded like the bottom but I could be wrong, it did it when I started it and the tech took it to 5 grand right when we started it with a busted radiator, so were replacing everything now, but its still got me freaked out since i have no knowledge of these cars...

I had one that was knocking so loud I thought for sure a bearing was gone, sounded like it was from the bottom too, but I noticed it was a little low on oil, I added some oil and it warmed up and NEVER herd the knocking again

Well, I hope i didn't blow a head, she's undergoing a block test right now, this is unbelievable...if it turns out positive, any info on good heads and a shop or person that could install or help?

How many miles on it? I'd switch to a heavier weight oil and see if it goes away. Generally speaking, the last thing you want to do after you hear an engine knocking is rev it to 5k.
