Default turn signal and break light

Hi
I have an electrical issue on my 5 gen camaro
Turn signals and brake lights share the same cable, same in gen 4 to i belive.
I have to separate them and move the indicator to a separate rear lamp.
First thought I cut the brake cable directly at the brake switch in order to then draw a new brake line to the rear,
but then maybe it affects something else, so I would probably take new turn signal wires to the rear.
Does anyone know where best to separate them without affecting the rest of electricity?

Yea, that won't work - the wires are broken up wth connectors throughout the car. Start at the rear harness connector. Its probably just unside the rear of the car. You can lengthen the wire there or, with the proper tools, replace the entire wire in the rear harness.

Perhaps GM reprogram the signals so I can split the signals in this way.
Corvette imported to Sweden, are reprogrammed and then buy a cable euro kit that separates brake and turnsignal.
I might have to be patient until this is released for the Camaro,,,
in a year or two :-)

Did you get a Euro spec car or were you able to ship a North American car?

If the 5th gen is similar to the 4th gen, you should be able to change the function of the bulbs by just working in the rear harness. It should be fed by control wires in the trunk and then the bulbs would be spliced together in that harness. If you are comfortable with electrical, this is easy to re-arrange. You could either bypass the harness connector in the trunk, splicing the wires directly, or get a friend with the GM dealer electrical harness tools to help you re-work your current harness connectors. (I just did something similar when I installed a sequential tail light kit in my 4th gen. I had to break the splices and run new wires from my bulbs to the harness connector.)

Either way, I'd highly recommend getting a factory service manual set:
http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...11F&itemtype=N
It has full electrical schematics for the car, including details on the penetrations where the wires go through sheet metal, where the wire connectors are, etc. The schematics should make your job manageable.

Its a U.S. Spec
Euro Spec deliveries starting in 2012 and has incredibly ugly tail lights and mirrors so therefore, I prefer the U.S. Spec.

I'll look at the book.
GM probably release a Eurokit when they release the Euro Spec cars then I reprogram at GM like we do with the Corvettes.

That's probably a good idea. It may be as simple as just installing a Euro tail harness.

If you imported a North American car, do you still need to meet the Scandinavian safety standards? I would expect that all of that would have to be taken care of before the car could be brought in to the country.

Your local GM dealer should have access to the Service Manuals. When the 2012 book is printed, perhaps they will give you a print out of the Euro wiring diagrams? (The 2011 book may not have them.)

The car is registred in sweden but the seller took a short cut and put on
temporary turnsignals and break lights.
I have one year to fix this so i probably have to wait.
thanks
