Default LS1 with stripped Starter Bolt Holes..

What's the fix? How are you guys doing it the easy way..Engine is still in the Truck.

I'm thinking bigger bolts..drilling the Starter if I need to..I can get a nut on the top of the outer one, the inner one will be tapped.

cool.............

I was curious because a friend had that issue and filled the holes partially with weld, then retapped them and put the bolts back in.

I'd rethink this and go with the helicoil and stronger truck style starter housing before the inside bolt lets loose and the outside thread boss breaks off. The inside bolt is under a HUGE amount of load when the starter is engauged.

The inside bolt is just about bottoming out in the hole..there was still atleast 5/8" of threads in there grabbing it. I measured everything before I did this.
