Default LS Longevity?

I am looking to do an LS swap and was wondering whats the longevity of an LS? I am a 3000 mile oil chnage kind of guy so how long can I expect a LS to last if I got one? Also, is a LS better than another? (will a 5.3 out last a 5.7 type thing). I see some nice used ones on ebay with 100,000 miles ish and Im wondering if itll be worth a few hundred bucks to get a lower mile one. Thanks guys!

Of couse a low miler would be better. Later the year the better too.
I wouldn't do a 97-98 the early year LS .
But either way it depend on how it was & will be driven used & maintained.

weak points are the clutch and rear end. LS1 engines are great and plenty of people with 100k, 150k, to 200k miles are still modifying, even n20 and forced induction (some lasting longer than others). also depends on previous owners so try and get one with less owners. most chain and local shops dont charge much or anything for them to do a full inspection / test drive as well

I wouldn't discount a higher mileage one...as said before, I think maintenance counts way more than miles.

Find an old LS1 from 1997-1998, they are the strongest of ALL the aluminum LSx engines ever made, and should be the cheapest block to buy used. Get it rehoned, re-ringed, new bearings, cam, forged rods and forged pistons and you're good to go. Some cheap heads and an LS6 intake. Thing will last for 10 years. Stock crank is good to 900 HP. So you can Supercharge it, spray some nitrous and have yourself a 500-600 HP reliable set-up.

I have over 160,000 miles on my built 427ci.
