Default Change oil light on start up

Hey guys, i did a search and didn't find any topics on this. I have a 2000 TA ws6 and when i fire it up the "change oil" light comes on, it stays on for about a minute than will go out. The oil level is fine.. i was wondering if anyone else had this happen and more importantly WHY it is happening. thanks!!

It's time to change your oil. After a while it will stay on.

It happens to me about every 5000 miles.

It varies based on your driving habits/conditions.

Once you change you oil you can clear it by turning the key to the on position and holding the trip meter reset button for 5-10 seconds. The oil light will blink.

Synthetic...brand isn't going to matter that much, I would consider Royal Purple the only "superior" synthetic oil. GM used Pennzoil when they come off the line, I just continued to use that.

Just be careful if the car wasnt run on synthetic, dont run synthetic. It can cause oil leaks.

You can also turn the key on and stab the gas pedal 3 times. I just did it to mine yesterday.

As for oil, I used to run Royal Purple but switched to Edelbrock Full Synthetic with Zinc.
