Default Rack in Pinion

Well guys it has been a while! Anyways I'm replacing the Rack in pinion in my car. I'm looking into buying one. Quality not quantity here. My first instinct was to go to my local GM and buy one there but i'm not sure if i could buy one to make a difference so I can improve the performance in my car.

Thank YOU!

I got a remanufactured one from a place on ebay called Detroit Axle. Its been holding up great and has a lifetime warranty. Once you send back your core it was like $135. Definitely worth checking out:

Seen Cordone on ebay for 130.00 plus a 15.00 core. Yup free shipping too. Can't beat it.

Good luck.

I picked one up at Advance Auto. It is Cordone and I want to say it has a lifetime warranty. One problem: fluid lines on the front of the new Rack and pinion were bent, kinked and had been painted. A little disappointing considering I would expect better.

So I swapped out the lines on my old original unit, cleaned them out with brake cleaner and put them on the new unit. Returned my core with the bent lines and everything worked out great.

I did all this while I was rebuilding my front suspension and bushings. If this is your first time replacing the R&P good luck with getting the bolts out. One of them had to be cut with a recipro saw as it is upside down. The alternative was jacking up the engine. And you will need an alignment after the install...

Good luck!
